Meet Nick Hockings, respected Ojibwe Elder, creator of the award winning Waswagoning Village on the Lac du Flambeau reservation of the Lake Superior Band of Ojibwe. Nick is a renowned teacher of Ojibwe culture and the Ojibwe language.
He will teach fire starting, dancing and explain the “Old Ways”.
Nick and “The Blue Wind Dancers” will perform their time honored dances in full, handmade regalia at app. 7:00 P.M.
The Waswagoning Village Gift Shop will feature some handmade items and products of “The North Woods”

Juried Fine Art Show at The Promenade Bolingbrook

out to enjoy one of the region’s finest new juried fine art shows. Back by popular
demand! Second annual event sponsored by the Arts Council and Village of Bolingbrook.
Show management and direction by Virgo Rising Presents. Takes place June 12th and 13th,
2010 at The Promenade Bolingbrook, 631 E. Boughton Rd., Bolingbrook IL. Saturday 10am
to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Ample free parking. Admission to the fair is free.
The Promenade Bolingbrook is an open air shopping district featuring specialty shops and
restaurants. Come out to browse the original art at the Artwalk, enjoy ongoing
entertainment by local bands, dance troupes and more on the outdoor stage; then have
lunch or dinner. The center boasts a variety of dining options from Gordon Biersch and
Francesca’s to Auld Dubliner, Go Roma and bd Mongolian Grill. Even take in a movie in high
style at the recently opened Gold Class Cinemas.
The Promenade Bolingbrook is centrally located in the Chicago southwest suburban
metropolitan area just off the I-55/I-355 interchange, 30 minutes from downtown Chicago,

An annual event hosted by the Bolingbrook Arts Council is held in conjunction with the Village of Bolingbrook’s Annual Picnic. The event is open to all Bolingbrook residents who wish to display their art in photography, watercolor, acrylic, oil, drawing and 3-Dimension mediums. The junior category is open to all applicants up to age 16 and the adult category is open to applicants 17 and above. Each category is professionally judged with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both the Junior and Adult categories. All entries compete for the People’s Choice Award. This event is open to amateurs and professionals.
Congratulations to all of our winners in the Junior and Adult Divisions.
A special thank you to all the Fire Stations, Commissions, Local Businesses and Residents who participated in Project: Terra Cotta, it was a HUGE success.

The Bolingbrook Arts Council 2010 Youth Calendar Project is closed.
Congratulations to the 13 winners whose artwork will appear on the 2010 Arts Council Calendar to be available in early December. Winners will be announced at the December Village of Bolingbrook Board Meeting.
